Wow. The weekend was so much fun I barely remember last week. I also have a terrible memory, so it’s not as severe as it sounds. This weblog turns 3 weeks old this Thursday, but it feels like it’s been months since the beginning of June. It’s been a pretty hectic time for me – attempting to do/see/hear everything within a 10 mile radius gets challenging at times. Fortunately, I’m not someone that backs down from a challenge.
After last weekend’s wildness, it’s understandable if you want to take it easy for the next few days. However, July 4th is around the corner and there will be plenty of private parties for kicking back. June has been a hot month for happenings and I don’t plan to quit now. Not everything has to be turned up to 11, so if you’re tired take a look and choose one of the less intense activities for this weekend.
I set out early last night with a plan. The gods chortled as I was derailed by caffeine (or lack thereof), low funds, and excessive anticipation. Fun was had, but I had a slow start finding it.
The party gods must’ve heard my prayers. Black Lodge is throwing ANOTHER shindig. This one is tomorrow night (Tuesday) and kicks off around 9:30ish.
They’re even serving food. You just don’t have any excuses now.
It was a hectic weekend, to be sure. Once all the dust settles, I think good times were had all around. I heard that the Rosanne Cash show @ Levitt Shell pulled a record-breaking turnout. I also received more than one invite to the new High Cotton Brewing Taproom that opened Saturday. Apparently the Dead Soldiers capped off the festivities. I was sorry to miss it, but I know the party must go on.
Last night, there was magic in the air. Everywhere I went, people were in good spirits and having a great time. Of course, this means there was so much happening that I couldn’t get to everything I wanted to do. So I’ll just focus on the important part – Memphis creative expression at its best! Ohmigosh – there is SO MUCH to choose from. I don’t think you can swing a dead cat without hitting an event in Memphis this weekend. I’m not even going to mention scheduled weekly stuff this go round – those will be here later. Honestly, if you don’t leave home this weekend you should eat a gallon of shame ice cream. I am glad the rain held off until after dark yesterday. Not only did it make for a great day to be out and about, but the overnight thunderstorm did NOT knock out my power (for once).
